Here's a little something off-topic. Just a fun picture I made for our yearly Family Guy auction. The theme was to do something using film poster designs.

In honor of today's Oscars, here's a couple film-related oldies. I painted these two from the head shots of the same actress. The first one is the mysterious haunted girl.

This one is the lusty farm girl.

Sea Monsters

This is a large painting I made that was inspired by toy fish I used to get in cereal boxes. They used to have awesome toys in cereal when the price of oil/plastics was cheap. My dad said the toy was actually less expensive than the cereal it displaced. See if you can find all 12 different kinds (hint: there's a grey flying fish in the upper right corner).

Regina Spektor

The creative process is mysterious. It's part skill, part knowledge, and part hard work. But it's really amazing when it's in large part inspiration. That's why I chose this painting of Regina Spektor to be the first post on my new blog. To me, her music taps into a spirit that's both whimsical and deep, emotional and intellectual. When I paint, I aspire to do the same.
